How a kit comes together

Parts arrive on pre-cut sheets with a guide. Each product page lists what you add, such as white craft glue, fine tweezers or batteries.
Build at your pace
Plan 2 to 10 hours of hands-on time. Sand tight joints lightly and dry-fit before you glue. Stop at any natural point and carry on another evening.
Switch on the light
Lit kits run on batteries that are not included, usually 2 AAA, and the product page says which. Slide the finished nook in between your books.

Is it a finished model or a kit?
A kit you build yourself. Parts arrive on pre-cut sheets with a guide, and each product page lists what you add, such as glue, tweezers or batteries. The photos show finished models.
How long does a book nook take to build?
Usually 2 to 12 hours of active building, depending on the kit. Count Cat's Study Book Nook ($56.95) takes about 2 to 3 hours and The Astrology Bookshop ($124.95) about 3, and both are rated First build. Sunshine Coffee Shop Book Nook takes about 12.
Do I need glue, tools or batteries?
Usually, yes. Slot-and-glue kits need white craft glue and fine tweezers. Sakura Wine Alley Book Nook and press-fit wooden kits such as the Seahorse Barque need no glue. Lit kits need batteries, usually 2 AAA, which are not included; the lit kits in the table need no soldering. Each product page lists what you add.
Will it fit my shelf?
Measure the clear width, depth and height, not the whole shelf. Allow 0.4 in (1 cm) above the kit and 0.8 in (2 cm) behind it. The shelf-fit guide checks all three.
What if a part breaks or is missing?
Keep the numbered parts sheet and send the kit name and part number through the contact form. Sand tight joints lightly and dry-fit first, so nothing gets forced.
Who are the kits made for?
They are made for adults and makers aged 14+. They contain small parts and fine wires, and the finished models are decorative, not toys.
How long does delivery take?
Each product page and the checkout show the estimated delivery time for your country. Standard delivery is $6.95 to the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union, $16.95 elsewhere, and free on every order from $49.
Can I return a kit?
Yes. Request a return within 30 days of delivery and keep the parts sheets and packaging. Glued or altered parts can lower the refund. A faulty part is handled separately.
